The compensation trial against former New York Stock Exchange chairman Richard Grasso is set to begin October 30, days before the gubernatorial election where New York State attorney general Eliot Spitzer is the Democratic candidate.

The executive pay case is set to begin more than two years after Spitzer sued Grasso alleging that his $187.5m (€157.8m) pay package was excessive under New York state's not-for-profit law.
