Schroder Salomon Smith Barney has hired a former economist from the International Monetary Fund for its emerging markets economic research team in London.

David Woo has been appointed as a vice-president with responsibility for South Africa. As an economist for the investment bank, Woo will focus on publishing thematic reports on emerging markets.
