Standard Chartered sets aside $900m for fines in US and UK

Standard Chartered expects to record a $900m fourth-quarter provision reflecting US and UK regulatory penalties, including a decision notice it received from the UK Financial Conduct Authority’s Regulatory Decisions Committee.

The decision notice imposes a penalty of £102.16m, net of a 30% early settlement discount. The bank will consider its options regarding the notice.
