Standard Life Aberdeen sells insurance business to Phoenix Group

The unit will be sold in a cash and stock deal worth £3.2bn

Standard Life Aberdeen is to offload its insurance business to Phoenix Group as the UK's largest listed investment manager continues to transition the company away from its insurance roots.

The unit will be sold in a cash and stock deal worth £3.2bn. News of the deal broke on Thursday night but the sale was officially announced on Friday morning at the same time Standard Life Aberdeen published its first-ever annual results.
