Both Standard Life and Aberdeen Asset Management have been outspoken on the topic of women in finance. In this video, Martin Gilbert, who will be one of the co-chief executives of the combined operation when the investment companies merge later this summer, says: “At the heart of everything we do is a commitment to diversity.”

So it was disappointing to see only one woman named on the combined entity’s 12-strong investment committee.
