Rory Tobin, one of the main architects of BlackRock’s successful European exchange traded funds business, has spent far less time in the public eye promoting products to investors since he joined State Street Global Advisors, one of BlackRock’s main rivals.

Tobin, who oversaw iShares’ international business after BlackRock acquired the ETF unit from Barclays in 2009, started at State Street in 2014 and has spent the past three years helping it play catch up in Europe.
