State Street considering options for fund management arm – report

State Street, the Boston-headquartered bank, is conducting a review of its asset management arm which include a potential sale of the business or merging it with a rival.

The US bank considered merging State Street Global Advisors — one of the world's largest asset management operations — with the fund management operation of Switzerland-based UBS or Atlanta headquartered investment manager Invesco. However, the discussions did not lead to an agreement.
