State Street Global Advisors has approached asset managers in Europe about partnering to launch active exchange traded funds — a model which, in the US, has given it access to one of the fastest-growing segments of the market.

“We talk to best-in-class third-party active managers about taking their active capability, wrapping it in our ETFs, and coming to market in partnership. We’ve done that in the US and in Europe we are exploring something similar,” Rory Tobin, global head of State Street’s SPDR ETF business, told Financial News.
