Statoil could tap debt markets after float

Statoil, the Norwegian oil and gas firm which has floated its shares on the Oslo Stock Exchange, could also be on the brink of raising finance in the debt capital markets.

Statoil's equity sale on Monday valued the company at more than Nkr141bn ($15.2bn). However, Statoil has also filed in Japan for permission to sell debt securities worth as much as Y200bn ($1.6bn).
