Sterling drops again on report May will face confidence vote

Further woe for British pound as markets react badly to rumours of more political turmoil to come

Sterling dropped to the lowest level since April 2017 on December 11, following a media report that UK Prime Minister Theresa May could face a leadership challenge.

According to Conservative Party rules, 15%, or 48, of the party’s 315 MPs must write to the chair of a powerful committee of backbench Tory lawmakers in order to formally challenge May’s premiership.
