Success brings fears of overcrowding

Comment: Claims of margins of up to 45% have created a hiring frenzy in equity derivatives

If there is a sense of overpopulation in the equity derivatives industry, it is nothing like as bad as it is likely to become.

Boston Consulting Group identified equity derivatives as an area primed for growth in a report on the investment banking business. It claimed the sector would deliver revenues of more than $20bn (€16bn) by 2007 – up more than 40% from last year's estimated revenues for the industry.
