Sudan loses $1bn ‘blood money'

The US state of New Jersey is withdrawing $1bn (€830m) in pension assets it called "blood money" invested in companies conducting business in Sudan.

The boycott, signed by Richard Codey, state governor, is the first active withdrawal of assets in the US related to Sudan. The money will be taken away this week.
