Suez to control French energy champion

Mestrallet takes top job at €37.5bn merged group

Suez and Gaz de France, which unveiled a €37.5bn ($44.6bn) merger yesterday, have announced that Suez chief executive Gérard Mestrallet will take charge of the combined company.

Gaz de France chief executive Jean-François Cirelli, will be the second in command at the group, although both companies said today the positions would manage the company in "tandem".
