Sun Life edges towards MFS deal

Sun Life Financial, the Canadian financial services company, is close to selling its US asset manager, which has $163bn (€130bn) in assets under management, to a bank or an investment firm.

Wachovia and Mellon were named as bidders for MFS Investment Management by US news network CNBC last night. MFS is valued at about $3bn.
