SunGard, the highly acquisitive global IT supplier, is believed to have made a bid to acquire Guardian IT, the moribund UK disaster recovery company.

SunGard Availability Services (SAS) was created following last year's acquisition of another disaster recovery firm, Comdisco, for $825m.
