SVG Capital has hired JP Morgan, Numis Securities and Lazard to help it fend off an unsolicited takeover bid from HarbourVest Partners – possibly setting the scene for a highly unusual contested takeover.

JP Morgan's lead banker on the deal is Conor Hillery - who was earlier this year named head of industry coverage for financial institutions in Europe, the Middle East and Africa - according a person familiar with the matter.
