Moody's warns of swap reform risks

The ratings agency highlights the pitfalls of switching to alternative instruments for hedging

Moody’s has echoed warnings that the regulatory overhaul of the OTC derivatives markets could lead to increased risks for bond funds that seek alternatives to non-cleared swaps in order to lower costs.

A report from the ratings agency examined the consequences for bond funds from the US Dodd-Frank Act, the European Market Infrastructure Regulation and reform of the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive in Europe.
