Sweden wins many plaudits over its innovative pension reforms

A-P fund system points the way forward for rest of Europe

Despite losing more than Skr100bn (€110bn) since 2000, the reformed A-P funds in Sweden are not facing strong criticism or public debate.

Consultants say that the lack of criticism or outrage is because most people realise that the old system would have been worse. "To reform the system was a pragmatic step and most countries, including France, will have to do something at some stage," says one.
