Switzerland's stock exchange has appointed the head of Swiss equities at Goldman Sachs as its new chief executive, as it looks to address the threat posed by alternative trading systems.

Christian Katz, who currently runs Goldman Sachs's equities division in Zurich, will become chief executive of SIX Swiss Exchange in May, the company said in a statement.
