TDC, the Danish national telecoms carrier taken private in Europe's largest buyout last year, has named Swisscom's former head as its new chief executive.

Jens Alder quit the Swiss state-owned phone group at the end of January after his international expansion strategy was effectively vetoed by its majority shareholder, the Swiss government.
