Telecoms companies tackle debt problems

France Télécom and Deutsche Telekom, the two companies in the communications sector that are under most pressure to cut debt and strengthen their credit profiles, are on track to end the year on a strong note thanks to a bond issue and a proposed asset disposal, respectively.

The German telecoms company's bonds rallied on Wednesday after it was reported that it plans to sell DeTeMedien, its telephone directories business, for about €1bn ($1bn).
