The merger between Terra Networks and Lycos is still on track despite the resignation of Juan Villalonga, chairman of Spain's Telefónica.

Despite denying allegations of insider trading, Villalonga, was forced to step down following a vote by the board of directors of Telefónica. The unanimous vote was 'in accordance with our commitment to act in favour of the company and its shareholders', said the board.
