You may not know it but, since 1992, April has been Stress Awareness Month. As a contributing factor to both deeper mental problems like depression and anxiety, and physical ailments like heart disease and insomnia, stress is rightly seen as one of the great public health challenges of our time.

While we may need some stress to perform at our best, City life is clearly susceptible to the negative effects of extreme work pressure, as the Banking Standards Board said earlier this month. One-quarter of City workers worry their job is affecting their health.
