The death of the ‘hedge fund’?

With the body in charge of industry standards looking to rebrand, firms move towards 'alternatives'

The Hedge Funds Standards Board is debating a name change in an effort to distance itself from a term that has become increasingly contentious over the past decade.

The body, which works to boost standards of responsibility among members of the global hedge funds industry, is having internal discussions to expand its moniker, and may swap out the 'hedge funds' in its name in favour of 'alternatives' or 'alternative asset managers'.
