The London Stock Exchange is closed on 8 May but here’s what’s happening in other markets

As London traders take a late Mayday break, what will be going on elsewhere in the world?

Traders in London will be looking forward to a long weekend, thanks to the UK’s early May bank holiday on 8 May, which follows weeks of market volatility fuelled by the panic and uncertainty around the Covid-19 pandemic.

But it's business as usual for everyone else – the New York Stock Exchange will be open on 8 May, as will the CME Globex futures and options exchanges and the Toronto Stock Exchange. Traders across the pond will have to wait until Memorial Day on 25 May for their next weekday break.
