The UK reported a 10,520 jump in the number of new daily coronavirus infections on November 12, the biggest increase since the outbreak of the pandemic in March.

Public Health England recorded 33,470 new cases of Covid-19 today, taking the cumulative number of positive tests to 1.29 million. Scientists have cautioned against declaring any single day a record for new cases because positive results recorded today may have come from a test that took place one or more days ago.
