Barclays Capital faces an uphill struggle to convince UK fund managers that its corporate bond index should be the benchmark, in the wake of the actuaries report on the minimum funding requirement.

BarCap is not surprisingly keen to poke holes in an index from competitor Merrill Lynch, which is being back-dated 10 years to give more weight in the marketplace.
