As the London Stock Exchange waits for the next round in the phoney war of bourse consolidation, one woman – apart from Clara Furse – will be taking a particularly keen interest in developments.
If Nasdaq pursues its unsolicited and informal £2.4bn ($4.2bn) approach, Charlotte Crosswell, head of Nasdaq International, could find herself in an unusual position. Crosswell spends most of her time jetting around the world in business class, ratcheting up air miles and drumming up business for Nasdaq from international companies. She joined Nasdaq in 2004 from â yes, you guessed it â the LSE, where she spent most of her time flying business class doing exactly the same job.
