Barclays Capital, the investment banking division of Barclays, has appointed Ray Thompson as IT director with responsibility for financial management and project planning.

Thompson will be based in New York and report to PJ Di Giammarino, director and IT chief operating officer. He joins from Salomon Smith Barney, where he was vice-president of systems in its global transaction services division.
