‘Tidal wave of infections’ will engulf UK if people break rules, deputy chief medical officer says

Vaccine rollout will take months and the jab 'isn't going to help you if you don't take it'

People need to take the Covid-19 vaccine when it is offered to them and keep following the rules to stop the spread of the novel coronavirus, deputy chief medical officer Jonathan Van-Tam told the British public.

“We need people to take it,” he said on 2 December at a press conference alongside Prime Minister Boris Johnson, adding that low uptake would mean the restrictions stay in place longer. “The vaccine isn’t going to help you if you don’t take it.”
