Tidjane Thiam has quit as chief executive of Credit Suisse amid the fallout from a spying scandal that has riven the top of the Swiss banking giant.

Credit Suisse said in a statement on 7 February that its board had “unanimously accepted” Thiam’s decision to resign after almost five years at the helm of Switzerland’s second-largest bank.
