A former US Treasury undersecretary who had been tipped by some for a return to office under a Romney administration, is set to become the chief voice at the lobby group for the global banking industry.

Tim Adams, who has a strong background in economic policy, was today named as the next managing director of the Institute of International Finance. He will join the Washington-based lobby group on January 1 and succeed Charles Dallara exactly one month later.
