Time for Oxbridge performance appraisal

Only three Oxbridge endowments are worth more than $1bn (€733m), against 56 such US educational endowments. The comparison can be made to illustrate the lack of resources available to UK institutions.

When an endowment is large, it becomes possible to invest in a wider range of investment strategies and alternative asset classes. Harvard's $25bn and Yale's $15bn enable them to pursue strategies that are not dissimilar.
