Three top ex-Merrill Lynch debt and derivative specialists, led by TJ Lim, have created New Smith Financial Solutions (NSFS), an independent debt advisory firm offering strategic advice for corporates.

Lim, who left Merrill last year as global head of debt capital markets, is setting up his business NSFS within New Smith Capital Partners, the UK merchant bank being established by Michael Marks, Paul Roy and Stephen Zimmerman.
