Tom Hayes makes final bid to overturn Libor conviction

Ex-UBS and Citigroup trader has spent almost a decade trying to clear his name

Tom Hayes is making his case to the UK’s highest court to quash a conviction that made him the first trader jailed for Libor interest rate rigging.

Lawyers for Hayes said in their written argument to the Supreme Court that the directions given by his trial judge were “fundamentally wrong”, and the central factual questions were determined by the judge, instead of the jury.
