Nasdaq names new US stock market chief

The exchange group promotes an executive who has overseen its expansion in equity-options trading

Nasdaq OMX has appointed Tom Wittman to run its flagship US stock-trading franchise, promoting an executive who has overseen the exchange group's expansion in equity-options trading.

Wittman last week assumed oversight of Nasdaq's three US equities markets, adding to his existing role running the company's three domestic options platforms and a small futures exchange, according to a memo sent last week to clients.
