Advocate general to the European Court of Justice says EU plans to limit bankers' bonuses to 200% of salary are valid

The UK's hopes of winning its tussle with Brussels over the 'bonus cap' have been dealt a major blow by one of the top advisers to the European Court of Justice.

Finnish lawyer Niilo Jääskinen, one of nine advocate generals who advise the ECJ on pending cases, on Thursday published his findings into the UK government's appeal against the bonus cap.
