Winton has closed its long-standing office in Oxford and shifted its New York-based research team to London as the hedge fund giant grapples with falling revenues and declining assets under management.

The quantitative investment firm, run by Cambridge physics graduate David Harding, shut the Oxford site in July and let go of 20 of the 40 researchers working at the satellite office.
