US 1MDB lawsuit claims $850m diverted to Malaysian PM’s confidant
The US Justice Department has filed lawsuits to claim $540m of assets linked to alleged fraud at Malaysian state fund 1Malaysia Development, bringing the total value of claims to at least $1.6bn. US authorities also claimed that $850m of a $1.23bn loan from Deutsche Bank to 1MDB was diverted to accounts controlled by a confidant of the Malaysian prime minister. (WSJ)
