Tough US market forces Franklin to Europe

Franklin Mutual Advisers, the US fund manager with more than $27bn (€22.1bn) under management, is hoping to invest in European equities because competition among private equity firms in the US is too fierce.

David Winters, chairman and chief investment officer of Franklin, part of the Franklin Templeton group, said he was visiting European companies to try to find value opportunities.
