Rob Hegarty, former director of TowerGroup's investment management practice, has been promoted to vice president of the overall securities and investments group at the US-based research firm.

In his new role, Hegarty will oversee the company's three securities and investment research practices - investment management, retail brokerage and investing, and securities and capital markets.
