Trade of the Week: Dusting off the drachma

Banknote printer De La Rue has enjoyed a strong run on its share price amid continuing eurozone turmoil and reports that its presses are ready to roll if Greece switches back to its old currency

Shares in De La Rue, the UK’s largest banknote printer, have enjoyed a strong couple of months, amid fevered speculation that the firm could win a printing contract for the new drachma should Greece leave the eurozone.

Last week, several sources told Dow Jones the company was ready to print the notes, having dusted off old moulds from the pre-single currency era.
