Investors in orange juice futures are cashing in as a degenerative disease hits crops at a time of growing demand

Three decades after the protagonists of the hit 1983 comedy Trading Places were squeezing profits out of an orange juice futures trade, investors are cashing in again.

Prices of frozen concentrated orange juice (FCOJ) futures traded on the IntercontinentalExchange have risen around 36% since the beginning of the year, supported by expectations of meagre harvests and an increase in demand.
