Deutsche BankpromotedNicola Atkinson, its chief operating officer in the UK and Ireland, to interim chief executive for the countries following Tiina Lee's move to Citigroup. Atkinson, who has worked at the German lender since 2005, will take on the CEO position on an interim basis. Atkinson was latterly COO for the UK and Ireland, having taken the role in 2018 after stints in corporate finance and regulatory relationship management at Deutsche Bank. Lee is moving to Citigroup to become UK chief executive, taking over from James Bardrick.
HSBC tapped JPMorgan and Bank of America for two senior hires to bolster its payment business. Martijn Stoker was named global head of the bank’s global payment solutions and its liquidity and investment solutions. Stoker, who is currently Emea head of liquidity and account solutions at JPMorgan, will join HSBC’s London office in October. The bank has also hired Melissa Tuozzolo as its global head of client services for global payments solutions. Tuozzolo will take on her new role in September in New York. She joins from Bank of America where she is head of international payments.
