US legal giant Kirkland & Ellis promoted 205 lawyers to partner, including 26 in London. Last year the firm promoted 192 lawyers to partner, with the same number making the cut in London. Kirkland typically promotes a swathe of lawyers each year to its salaried partner rung. The rewards for those who then make it to share partner are rich. The average profit per equity partner at the firm is $7.5m, according to Law.com.
