Bill McNabb, the former chief executive of US fund management giant Vanguard, has joined the board of UK wealth management business Tilney Smith & Williamson as a non-executive director.

McNabb was CEO of the low-cost asset manager between 2008 and 2017. He was hired by Jack Bogle, Vanguard’s founder, who interviewed and offered McNabb his first job at the company in 1986. McNabb continued as chair of the Pennsylvania-headquartered firm until his retirement in 2018.
