The likelihood of all traffic being banned around the Bank of England has grown following an impassioned debate at the City of London Corporation, during which its transport boss was forced to deny he had lost his nerve over the ambitious scheme.

The corporation, which governs the Square Mile, is moving ahead with its All Change at Bank project, mapping out improvements that could be made over the coming years to the iconic junction at the heart of the City.
