Treasury Committee launches economic crime inquiry

There is an increased focus on economic crime amid efforts to protect the UK's finance sector as Brexit approaches and concerns over cryptocurrencies

Treasury Committee launches economic crime inquiry

The influential Treasury Committee has launched an inquiry into economic crime, amid concerns that the UK, and London's property market in particular, are becoming the destination of choice for money launderers.

The announcement comes as the UK steps up efforts to protect the status of its financial services sector with a year to go until Brexit. Last October, the City of London Corporation announced plans for a new court in the Square Mile that will focus on economic and cyber crime cases.
