The Treasury has more than doubled the number of staff in its sanctions unit since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine began last February, according to figures obtained by Financial News.

The Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation employed 105 full-time equivalent staff as of March, up from 45 a year earlier, data provided under the Freedom of Information Act shows, as it stepped up its efforts to stop UK finance aiding the war effort.
