Treasury watchdog chair demands answers from Rishi Sunak over damning Covid-19 spending report

Report found the government displayed a lack of transparency and failed to document key procurement decisions

Treasury Committee Chair Mel Stride MP has written to chancellor Rishi Sunak demanding answers from his office over the National Audit Office’s damning report into Covid-19 procurement.

The report found the government had displayed a lack of transparency and had failed to document key decisions such as why some suppliers were chosen or how it identified and managed conflicts of interest. It followed an investigation into emergency coronavirus procurement by the NAO.
